I just re-read a post I wrote about a month ago that stated that I am not willing and don’t want to be a hardcore Vegan. Let’s just go ahead and file that under: I’m a moron.
I, like most, thought being vegan was weird. I thought it was something I could never do, and as I mentioned, never wanted to do.
Allow me to be clear this time. I am 100% vegan (a decision I made approximately 1 day after the aforementioned post). I have read a lot of books now regarding veganism. There are SOOOOO many things people think they know, when really they don’t. Here is what I suggest to those who think it’s ridiculous to never eat dairy, meat and processed foods again… read a book. In fact, keep it simple and read “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Vegan”. Or if you choose to not educate yourself, do us all a favor… don’t share your opinion.
Even when I was not vegan, I still was never negative about it. One of my cousins that I am very close to is vegan, as well as my best friend. I always had respect for their choices, I just wasn’t ready to make the change myself. But now I am, and I feel amazing. When I read that vegans have fewer cases of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, cancer and heart disease (just to name a few) I realized that no piece of chicken or filet mignon is worth my health. The headaches I’ve discussed many times in the past, are gone. 100%. Haven’t had one in a month. That’s amazing to me.
My life has changed. I just wish everyone was as educated about the food they are eating and feeding to their children as I am. Information really is power.
